In a landmark move to bolster women entrepreneurship, the Bank of Industry (BOI), in collaboration with the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (WCCIMA), has launched a ₦10 billion fund dedicated to supporting women-led businesses across Nigeria. This initiative aims to bridge the financing gap and promote gender inclusivity in the nation’s economic landscape.
The fund is designed to provide accessible and affordable financing options to women entrepreneurs, enabling them to scale their businesses and contribute significantly to economic growth. This aligns with BOI’s ongoing commitment to empowering women in business. As of December 2023, BOI has financed 833 women-owned or women-led businesses, disbursing ₦99 billion to support their ventures.
This collaboration between BOI and WCCIMA is expected to enhance the capacity of women entrepreneurs, providing them with the necessary resources to thrive in various sectors. By focusing on women-led businesses, the initiative seeks to foster economic inclusivity and drive sustainable development across the country.
