Over $5bn Invested in Gas Sector Within One Year – NGA President

by Radarr Africa

The President of the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA), Mr. Akachukwu Nwokedi, has revealed that more than $5 billion has been pumped into Nigeria’s gas sector in the last one year.

Nwokedi made this known during a media briefing in Lagos, where he explained that the fresh investments covered various areas including gas infrastructure, floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects, gas processing, and domestic gas usage.

He attributed the growing investor confidence to key reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. According to him, the new Executive Orders on Oil and Gas, the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) pipeline project, and the Decentralized Gas Distribution Framework have created a more business-friendly environment for stakeholders.

Speaking on Nigeria’s plans for global engagement, Nwokedi said the country will be fully represented at the World Gas Conference (WGC) 2025, taking place in Beijing, China, from May 19 to 23, 2025.

He added that the NGA will host a dedicated Nigeria Pavilion at the event. The Pavilion, according to him, will showcase the country’s progress in the gas sector and open the door to new investment opportunities under the ongoing ‘Decade of Gas’ initiative.

Nwokedi emphasized that Nigeria is positioning itself not just as a gas-rich country, but as a reliable and strategic destination for energy investments.
