Zenith General Insurance Limited has extended its corporate social responsibility (CSR) drive to support vulnerable children by donating food items and essential supplies to two Lagos-based orphanages — Heritage Homes and Children Anchor Orphanage Home.
The gesture, according to the company, reflects its continued commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged children and promoting compassion in society.
During the visits, senior officials of Zenith General Insurance expressed the firm’s belief in community development and the importance of giving back, in line with its core values of empathy and social impact.
Speaking at the event, the Senior Manager in charge of Head Office Marketing and the South-South branches, Mrs. Edith Agu, said the initiative was conceived to show love and care to children who often face difficult beginnings.
“We want to show them that Zenith Insurance cares about them and that their well-being is important to us,” Agu said.
She also called on other corporate organisations to make community development a regular part of their annual plans, regardless of current economic challenges.
“Organisations should plan and make budgetary allocations for the improvement of their society through various corporate social vehicles,” she advised.
At the Children Anchor Orphanage Home, the supervisor, Mr. Olajide Bankole, expressed appreciation to Zenith General Insurance for the thoughtful donations, describing them as timely and impactful.
“We are really grateful. We are not the only orphanage, but you chose Children Anchor Orphanage Home,” Bankole said, adding that the home cares for more than 35 children and relies heavily on faith, social awareness, and goodwill from donors to sustain its operations.
He explained that the home’s vision is to create a brighter future for orphans, as well as abandoned and abused children, through education, love, and psychological support.
Similarly, officials of Heritage Homes described their facility as a haven for children without families and a bridge between abandoned children and prospective caregivers. They commended Zenith General Insurance for identifying with their mission and supporting their cause.
During the visit, representatives of the insurance firm took time to share personal words of encouragement with the children, urging them to believe in themselves and in a better future.
Deputy Head of IT, Mrs. Abimbola Sarumi, said the company’s delegation came “to put an extra smile on the faces of our children — our tomorrow.”
Also speaking, the Head of Internal Control and Audit, Mr. Muyiwa Aderibigbe, explained that the CSR exercise was more than a routine outreach but a reflection of the company’s core values, especially empathy and care.
“This activity speaks to one of our core values. We want you to stay alive because, as our business is known for restoring hope, joy is coming,” Aderibigbe told the children and caregivers.
He further appealed to other private sector players to make positive contributions to society, even in challenging economic times.
“These are trying times for many businesses, but we urge other organisations to join this train of making an impact in society and touching people beyond just profit,” he said.
The visits ended on a cheerful note as children and staff at both orphanages sang songs of appreciation, expressing gratitude for Zenith’s generosity and kindness.
Both Heritage Homes and Children Anchor Orphanage Home described the experience as uplifting and expressed optimism for future collaborations with the company.
For Zenith General Insurance, the initiative reinforces its image as a socially responsible organisation that not only protects lives and property through its products but also invests in the emotional and social well-being of the communities it serves.
The company reaffirmed its plan to continue engaging in CSR projects focused on children, education, and community development as part of its mission to make a lasting difference in Nigeria.
