How UBA Business Series Is Spotlighting Africa’s New Generation Of Female Leaders

United Bank for Africa has announced a special Women’s Month edition of its Business Series, bringing together female leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the evolving role of women in business and leadership across Africa.

The event, scheduled to hold on March 12, 2026 at UBA House, forms part of the bank’s quarterly knowledge sharing platform designed to promote dialogue around entrepreneurship, leadership and economic development.

Organisers said the session will run under the theme “Gen W: The Evolved Woman,” focusing on the growing influence of women across sectors including media, fashion, technology and entrepreneurship.

Across many African markets, women are increasingly taking on leadership roles in businesses and creative industries, reflecting broader changes in the continent’s economic landscape.

Industry observers say the shift is driven partly by improved access to education, expanding digital platforms and the growth of entrepreneurship among younger professionals.

While earlier discussions around women’s advancement often focused on improving access to employment and education, recent trends show a growing number of women launching companies, building brands and shaping emerging industries.

According to organisers, the forum aims to provide a platform for professionals to share experiences and insights about navigating leadership in an evolving economic environment.

The UBA Business Series, which holds quarterly, brings together business leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs to discuss trends influencing the continent’s business environment.

Participants at the Women’s Month edition will have the opportunity to hear from female entrepreneurs and media professionals whose work reflects the changing dynamics of Africa’s creative and business sectors.

Among the speakers is Joycee Awosika, founder of ORÍKÌ Group, a company known for developing beauty and spa products inspired by African heritage and natural ingredients.

Also scheduled to participate is Tomike Adeoye, whose work in broadcasting and digital media reflects the growing influence of online platforms in shaping new business opportunities.

Fashion entrepreneur Olufunke Davies, founder of the fashion label Fine Funky, will also join the discussion, bringing insights from the creative industry where African designers are increasingly gaining international visibility.

The panel will also include Ayo Mario‑Ese, whose work in television and media has contributed to conversations around representation and storytelling in African broadcasting.

The session will be moderated by Tobi Bakre, who is expected to guide discussions around leadership, entrepreneurship and the professional journeys of the speakers.

Organisers say the conversation will explore how women are navigating leadership in an economic environment shaped by rapid technological change, evolving consumer behaviour and growing competition across industries.

The bank noted that platforms such as the Business Series are intended to encourage knowledge exchange and provide mentorship opportunities for entrepreneurs and professionals seeking to build sustainable careers and businesses.
