Emirates extends South Africa flight ban

Emirates has extended its ban on flights from South Africa to the United Arab Emirates until 8 April.

The move is in line with the government’s directives that restrict the entry of travellers originating from South Africa into the UAE.

Daily passenger flights to Johannesburg will continue to operate.

The airline says customers who have been to or connected through South Africa in the last 14 days will not be permitted on any Emirates flights bound for Dubai.

British Airways has also suspended its flights between Johannesburg and Heathrow Airport until 17 May.

Fights between London and Cape Town are only expected to resume in June.
