Netflix to organize a Real-Life “Squid Game”

Netflix, a streaming service that offers a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, animation, documentaries and so much more is offering fans “the biggest reality competition ever” on of one its blockbuster Korean series ‘Squid Game’ which caused a ruckus on the internet world wide an opportunity to compete in a real-life Squid Game.

This announcement was made on the 14th of June and is set to hold at the Banff World Media Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Just like the movie, the show will have 456 contestants making it the largest cast in a reality competition to date with contestant battling it out in a series of mind-boggling games to win the massive cash prize of $4.56 million.

Unlike the movie, stakes aren’t life or death. Specific games haven’t been which leaves us to wonder if the 10-episode series be “full of tension and twists,” containing an IRL, non-fatal version of the Red Light, Green Light doll, tug-of-war match, and dalgona candy challenge.

With Squid Game season 2 being in the works, viewers are looking forward to see some inspiration from the new episodes as well.

To be a part of the competition, interested applicants can apply by submitting a one-minute video explaining who you are, why you want to be a part of the Squid Game. Netflix is open to receiving applications from all around the globe given that applicants can speak English as directions for the game will be given in English over a loud speaker. The Challenge, what your winning strategy would be, and what you would do with the historically-huge cash prize if you were to win. Participants must also be over 21 and able to commit to filming for four weeks in early 2023.

Filming is expected to begin 2023 which means the competition might not hit the screen until late 2023 or early 2024.
