LAGOS, November 5 (Radarr Africa) – NNPC Limited recorded revenue of N4.61 trillion and profit after tax of N509 billion in September 2026, according to its monthly report summary as reported by Nairametrics.
The figures bring the company’s statutory payments for January to September 2026 to N11.14 trillion, the report said. Nairametrics, citing its review of earlier monthly reports, put NNPC’s revenue for January to August at N28.54 trillion and profit after tax at N2.99 trillion.
Total hydrocarbon production averaged 3.04 million barrels of oil equivalent a day in September, up from 3.01 million in August. Crude oil and condensate output was 1.70 million barrels a day. Natural gas production was 7,789 million standard cubic feet a day, down from 7,841 million in August. Upstream pipeline availability was 100 per cent.
NNPC attributed the production increase largely to the restart of the Obodo field in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 150 and the restoration of output from other assets, according to the report.
On sales, the company sold 24.63 million barrels of crude oil and condensate in September. Gas sales averaged 4,793 million standard cubic feet a day, up from 4,737 million in August. In the downstream segment, petrol availability at NNPC Retail Limited stations stood at 54 per cent.
The report listed several operational challenges that constrained output. These were unplanned downtime from facility reliability problems, subsurface issues, flowline leaks, community protests, equipment failures, storage and tank-top limitations, and disruptions to export infrastructure.
To address them, NNPC said it plans to restore shut-in wells and facilities, optimise production and carry out well interventions, and undertake preventive maintenance to improve facility reliability. It also plans to resolve subsurface and flowline integrity issues, strengthen community engagement and address storage and export infrastructure limitations.
Nairametrics also compared the monthly numbers with NNPC’s audited 2025 results. Profit after tax rose 32.7 per cent to N7.18 trillion from N5.41 trillion in 2024, while revenue fell 23.4 per cent to N34.52 trillion from N45.08 trillion. Gross profit fell to N9.37 trillion from N11.71 trillion.
The report did not include direct comments from NNPC officials or other named individuals.
The monthly report comes as NNPC considers a public share sale. Nairametrics reported separately on November 3 that the company is weighing a sale of 5 per cent to 10 per cent of its equity in a potential initial public offering (IPO), with the listing expected to focus mainly on Nigeria’s domestic capital market. Radarr Africa reported on the IPO plan on November 4.
The report did not give a breakdown of September revenue by crude sales, gas or other business lines, and did not state how September profit compares with the same month of 2025. It also did not explain the gap between the 2025 audited figures, which show a fall in revenue, and the monthly figures reported so far in 2026.
NNPC’s monthly reports are published as summaries, and the figures in this report are as presented by the company and reproduced by Nairametrics.
