Propak West Africa Set to Open 12th Edition in Lagos with Focus on Innovation and Local Manufacturing

by Radarr Africa

Propak West Africa has announced that its 12th edition will hold next week at the Landmark Centre, Lagos, bringing together industry leaders, manufacturers, and innovators to showcase new solutions in packaging, plastics, printing, and processing.

The three-day exhibition and conference is expected to attract more than 5,500 professionals and over 250 global brands from across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. Organisers said the event will feature live demonstrations of cutting-edge packaging and processing technologies while highlighting opportunities for local producers to scale their operations.

According to the organisers, Propak has become one of West Africa’s most important platforms for the packaging and plastics industry, offering what they described as “the missing link to take businesses to the next level.” The annual exhibition provides a meeting point for global technology suppliers and Nigerian businesses eager to upgrade operations, expand capacity, and adopt sustainable practices.

The first day of the summit will be held under the theme “Shaping the Future of Packaging” and will focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in manufacturing and packaging operations. Confirmed speakers include the Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir, the Managing Director of BUA Foods, Mr. Dele Abioye, and senior executives from Guinness Nigeria, UAC Foods, PZ Wilmar, Diageo, and Sonnex Packaging. Discussions will highlight how Nigerian companies can adopt new technologies to remain competitive in regional and global markets.

Day two of the event, which will be hosted by KPMG, will centre on data management for sustainable packaging systems. Speakers lined up include the Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Mosopefolu George, the Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Coca-Cola Nigeria, Mrs. Oluwasoromidayo George, as well as representatives from KPMG, Co-Creation Hub, and Scrapays. The organisers noted that this session will explore the role of data in driving sustainability, waste minimisation, and recycling across the packaging value chain.

In a statement, the organisers stressed that the circular economy provides a transformative framework for Nigeria’s future. “The circular economy offers a transformative framework for sustainable development, emphasising resource efficiency, waste minimisation, and the promotion of recycling and reuse,” they said.

The final day of the summit will highlight made-in-Nigeria solutions with the theme “Scaling SME Manufacturing in Food, FMCG and Packaging.” This session will focus on addressing the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises while unlocking opportunities for growth, innovation, and access to finance. Speakers expected on the third day include the Lagos State Manager of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dr. Bunmi Kole-Dawodu, the Deputy Director of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Aina Olugbenga Stephen, as well as representatives from First Bank of Nigeria, VertoFX, and Promasidor.

Industry watchers say the exhibition will also showcase machinery, raw materials, finished products, and business solutions designed to help Nigerian companies reduce costs, improve efficiency, and expand export opportunities. The presence of multinational firms alongside local entrepreneurs is expected to create stronger business linkages that can boost industrialisation in Nigeria.

Propak West Africa is widely seen as a major event for knowledge sharing and networking within the plastics, printing, and packaging industries. Over the past decade, the exhibition has helped promote investments, technology transfer, and partnerships in Nigeria’s fast-growing manufacturing sector.

Organisers explained that this year’s edition is coming at a time when Nigeria is looking to strengthen its non-oil economy through manufacturing and export diversification. They said the event will provide a platform for stakeholders to chart new pathways for sustainable manufacturing and packaging while deepening support for locally made products.

By combining exhibitions with panel discussions, the organisers believe the event will not only showcase global trends but also provide practical solutions to the everyday challenges of Nigerian manufacturers. The sessions are also expected to highlight the role of government policies, financing, and regulatory frameworks in shaping the sector’s future.

The 12th edition of Propak West Africa will run for three days at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island Annex, Lagos, and is expected to be attended by key decision-makers across industries such as food and beverages, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.
