South Africa Mango to Temporarily Suspend Flight

South African Airways (SAA) a low-cost airline Mango will temporarily suspend its flight to Zanzibar.

The airline announces on Saturday that this was because it has been in debt and defaulted on loans it owes the leasing company.  It will most likely ground its fleet from Saturday, May 1st.

The airline is in talks with the government for financial support and is yet to be approved by the South African parliament.

The Public Enterprises Department has been asked to consider placing the cash-strapped carrier under business rescue after trying to divert R2.7 billion of the R10.5 billion allocated to South African airways subsidiaries, which included Mango.
