Thousands of Microsoft customers and government agencies have been victims of cyber attack

Recently, the US government’s cybersecurity agency has issued an emergency warning amid concerns that some group of a highly skilled and sophisticated group known as Hafnium operating out of China probably sponsored the recent hacking campaign that had affected several businesses and government agencies.

The government warned federal agencies and businesses in the States that use Microsoft email service to patch their system and repair all vulnerabilities exploited by these hackers.

According to Brian Krebs, the cybersecurity for Microsoft, he said at least 30,000 Microsoft customers have been affected by the recent attacks.

These attack could have far-reaching impacts, as the cybercriminals have access to a large base of potential victims by stealing pieces of information in several ways such as purchasing personal data on the dark web, sending email phishing scams, cold calling their victims by pretending to be bank representative and through computer intrusion.
