Twitter picks Ghana as its choice of headquarters in Africa

The CEO of Twitter announced via a tweet that the company would be setting up a presence in Africa. “Twitter is now present on the continent. Thank you, Ghana and Nana Akufo-Addo,” Jack disclosed.

During one of Jack’s tour in Africa, he said: “Africa will define the future,” while he met with several industry players and tech stakeholders in Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia and South Africa.

“Today, in line with our growth strategy, we’re excited to announce that we are now actively building a team in Ghana.”

The choice of Ghana as its headquarters for Twitter’s Africa operations was an excellent pick and the Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo very much welcomes the announcement as it will bring opportunities to the tech sector and the country.

According to Twitter, the decision to kick off its African expansion with Ghana stems from the country’s dealings with AfCFTA and its openness towards free speech and online freedoms.

The company will kick start operation with the following job vacancies in engineering, marketing and communications specialists while the new team members work remotely as it explored the opportunity to open an office in Ghana in the future.”

Facebook also has several offices in Ghana and Nigeria.
