ADC Split Deepens Over Adamawa Governorship Ticket

by Radarr Africa

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is grappling with an internal dispute over its Adamawa governorship ticket that has pitted presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar against former SGF David Babachir Lawal.

Suleiman Heads to Court

At the centre of the row is Ambassador Omar Suleiman, who insists he remains the party’s legitimate candidate after winning the primary, and has gone to the Federal High Court to block any attempt to replace him with Tukur Modibbo.

“The people’s mandate cannot be rewritten,” Suleiman said.

Lawal, who has since left the party, accused unnamed figures of trying to engineer the substitution along ethnic lines.

ADC stakeholders in Adamawa have also criticised the David Mark-led National Working Committee, while Atiku’s aide has denied any involvement in the alleged plot to replace Suleiman.
