The Allied Peoples Movement has described the growing popularity of its presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, as a sign that the party is positioned for victory in the 2027 presidential election.
The party said Makinde’s increasing support, particularly among young Nigerians, showed that voters were responding positively to his political record and leadership style.
APM Highlights Makinde’s Youth Appeal
APM National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf said Makinde had built a strong relationship with young Nigerians through his positions on national issues.
The party pointed to the governor’s participation in the 2020 #EndSARS protests and his opposition to the Federal Government’s suspension of Twitter, now known as X, in 2021.
The APM spokesman said these positions had contributed to Makinde’s popularity among young voters.
The party also highlighted the governor’s proposed Reset Nigeria Agenda, which it said would focus on transparency, accountability and greater participation in governance.
Party Targets 2027
The APM said it was strengthening its structures across the country ahead of the 2027 election.
Makinde has already selected former DSS Director-General Lawal Daura as his running mate for the presidential race.
The party said it was confident that the Makinde-Daura ticket could provide Nigerians with an alternative to the major political parties.
APM leaders have continued to position Makinde’s popularity and record in Oyo State as major selling points ahead of the election.
