President Donald Trump announced that flags across the United States would be lowered for a week, describing Parton’s death as a “true loss for millions of people.”
“Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “There has never been anyone like her, and never will.”
Former President Joe Biden remembered Parton as “an American original” who “treated everyone with kindness and respect.”
Former Republican President George W. Bush also honored Parton, highlighting “her work to promote literacy, advance health, and strengthen communities.”
Former Democratic President Bill Clinton described the singer as “one of a kind.”
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani also paid tribute, describing Parton as “an irreplaceable champion of the working class.”
“We are a better country because of her,” he said.
The music industry also joined the tributes. Beyoncé, who collaborated with Parton on her Grammy-winning album “Cowboy Carter,” remembered the country legend for her distinctive personality and lasting influence.
“Bold and brilliant. Talented and tenacious. You taught so many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself,” Beyoncé said on her website.
Rock musician Jack White, who previously covered Parton’s classic song “Jolene,” called for her “instant sainthood” in an Instagram tribute.
Rapper Kid Rock, who also worked with Parton, described her as “quite simply” the greatest of all time.
“Thanks for the songs, the laughs, the humility and grace. Without a doubt, a woman who God truly has his hands on.”
