The Labour Party has distanced itself from Abayomi Arabambi over lawsuits seeking access to the academic and National Youth Service Corps records of Peter Obi.
The party said Arabambi is no longer a member and therefore did not institute the cases as an official representative of the Labour Party.
Party Warns Against Impersonation
According to LP National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa, Arabambi was among 25 members suspended by the party’s National Executive Council in March over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was later ratified at the party’s National Convention in April.
Arabambi filed separate cases involving the West African Examinations Council, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and NYSC, seeking access to records relating to Obi’s credentials.
The Labour Party said it would not comment on the substance of the court cases but warned that any representation of Arabambi as an LP chieftain or representative was unauthorised.
The party’s lawyers are reviewing the matter and may take further legal action, including a possible petition to law enforcement agencies.
The development comes as the controversy over Obi’s credentials gains renewed attention ahead of the 2027 election.
