A Polaris Bank branch manager, identified as Mr Ossy, has been killed by suspected kidnappers at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, in Imo State. Two female students were also reportedly abducted.
Banker Shot Dead at FUTO
The incident occurred on September 6 while the banker was reportedly taking his children to the university.
According to Polaris Bank, his children escaped from the attackers, but the manager was shot dead.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of our Branch Manager and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time,” the bank said.
The bank added that the incident was being investigated by security agencies and urged the public to allow authorities to complete their work.
FUTO also confirmed that a visitor was fatally shot during the incident and that two female students were reportedly abducted.
“Management is engaging with the appropriate authorities regarding the safe recovery of the students,” the university said.
The university said additional security measures were being introduced around the institution and neighbouring communities.
