South Africa based healthtech Innov8 partners with Avacare Global

South Africa-based health-tech Innov8 Group Holdings has signed a five-year deal with Avacare Global, a healthcare manufacturer and distributor in Africa, to boost the distribution of their U-Image wireless ultrasound solution.

Founded by Dr Chad Marthinussen, a medical doctor, and his team after realizing the challenges of ultrasound machinery in emergency departments in the Western Cape. The health tech aims to use this deal to expand its presence in the medical imaging industry in South Africa and beyond.

According to Marthinussen, the U-Image is committed to enhancing the healthcare experience through technology for all, regardless of socioeconomic status. He also noted that the deal with Avacare Global gives the Innov8 Group a solid revenue base to work from, allowing them to focus on research and development, particularly in software and data infrastructure development.

The U-Image wireless ultrasound solution is a three-in-one ultrasound probe that provides whole-body scanning capabilities in any environment. Despite its small size, it offers world-leading performance across various medical specialities, making it an affordable and accessible solution for medical professionals.

The U-Image ecosystem is designed to seamlessly connect the scanner and scanned data to its medical AI imaging pipeline, which allows for real-time analysis and decision-making to provide doctors with the information they need when they need it most.

Since its launch, U-Image has been a game-changer in South Africa’s overburdened healthcare sector. Medical professionals are now able to improve bedside examinations and clinical care, detect symptoms, and reduce intervention time.

The device has already been successfully adopted by hospitals in the Western Cape, including Tygerberg Hospital, Khayelitsha Day Hospital, and Worcester Hospital.

The distribution deal with Avacare Global offers a huge platform to drive the adoption of the U-Image device across the continent and in new territories.

Founded in 1996, Avacare Global has the vision to make a difference for the people of Africa. The company has a strong track record of distributing and supplying affordable quality healthcare products to customers in 12 territories across Africa.

The U-Image wireless ultrasound solution is expected to revolutionise the medical imaging industry, especially in low-income countries where access to medical imaging is limited. With this distribution deal, the Innov8 Group and Avacare Global aim to improve healthcare outcomes for millions of people across Africa and beyond.
