Social Democratic Party presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo has promised to provide between 11 and 15 kilowatts of solar power for every Nigerian roof within 11 months if elected president in 2027.
Adebayo Unveils Solar Power Plan
Adebayo made the promise during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.
He said his administration would establish solar-panel manufacturing facilities across Nigeria while training citizens to install and maintain solar systems.
“I promise that between 11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power will be put on every roof within 11 months,” he said.
According to him, the plan would reduce dependence on the national grid while expanding access to electricity.
SDP Candidate Plans Solar Manufacturing
Adebayo said Nigeria could establish solar manufacturing partnerships with countries including China, Turkey and India.
He said the proposed solar clusters would provide electricity for basic household needs while creating employment opportunities.
The SDP candidate also disclosed that he had previously experimented with solar technology in his hometown and claimed to have trained about 2,000 people.
National Grid to Serve as Backup
Adebayo said the proposed solar clusters could generate up to 32,000 megawatts.
“You put all of that, and you generate employment, and you now generate up to 32,000 megawatts from these clusters that you do,” he said.
He added that the national grid would function as a backup system whenever a solar cluster experienced problems.
