Samsung has unveiled its latest Galaxy 23 smartphones, which will compete with Apple’s latest iPhone 14 once they hit the market.
The new Galaxy S23 ranges were shown off during the tech company’s live-streamed Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, the roster is composed of three phones at varying price points: the standard S23, the S23+ and the S23 Ultra.
All three phones pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a Qualcomm-produced chip that bills itself as having a 35% faster CPU than its previous iteration, as well as operating at 40% greater efficiency. Samsung says that the new chip aids in providing smartphone users with “premium experiences, including groundbreaking AI.”
The front-facing camera includes fast autofocus and Samsung’s first Super HDR selfie camera that jumps from 30 frames per second (fps) to 60fps.
The Galaxy S23 and S23+ come with 6.1 inches and 6.6-inch displays and have less powerful cameras with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, 50-megapixel wide lens and 10-megapixel telephoto camera on the rear of the devices. For those who want greater control over their images, the S23 now supports RAW image files.
The Galaxy S23 range, which includes the S23+ and the S23 Ultra alongside the base model, will be a test of Samsung’s pulling power in a market that is set for contraction as the cost of living continues to pile pressure on consumers.

The phones are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips.
Prices for the phones start from €999 for the base model of the S23, with the S23+ starting at €1,249 and the Ultra model at €1,459.
