Tinubu heads to Senegal, to attend Faye’s inauguration

Bola Tinubu is travelling from Abuja to Dakar, Senegal, to attend the inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Faye.

Tinubu was invited by the Republic of Senegal and will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and other senior government officials. The inauguration will take place at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, where Tinubu will join other regional leaders.

After the event, Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria. Faye, an opposition candidate, won the presidential election with 54% of the votes, defeating the governing coalition’s candidate and former Prime Minister, Amadou Ba, who received 35.79% of the votes.
Faye, aged 44, is poised to become the youngest President in Senegal’s history.
