President Bola Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday, September 29, after spending about four weeks on a working vacation in the United Kingdom and France.
The President had initially been expected to return over the weekend, following the extension of his working vacation by a few days. However, his schedule has now been adjusted, with his return moved to Tuesday.
Tinubu is expected to arrive through Lagos, where he will reportedly be received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The President is also expected to remain in Lagos through Thursday, October 1, when Nigeria will commemorate its 66th Independence Anniversary. He is scheduled to deliver a national broadcast as part of the celebrations. (The Guardian Nigeria)
The Federal Government has announced that the Independence Day programme will include other activities, including a public lecture scheduled for September 30.
Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for London, beginning what was initially announced as a three-week working vacation. After spending about a week in the United Kingdom, he travelled to Paris, France, where he continued his stay.
During his time in France, the President held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré, whose business interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group. He also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World concerning the development of a proposed $7 billion deep-sea port. (MetroNews)
While Tinubu was away, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at some official engagements.
The Presidency had earlier said the President remained in contact with officials in Nigeria and continued to oversee government affairs during his time abroad. (TheCable)
Tinubu’s return will come shortly before the Independence Day celebrations, which are scheduled to take place in Lagos on October 1.
