The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) says it plans to deploy between 50 and 70 smart, self-service energy stations across Nigeria within the next six months.

Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, made the announcement while commissioning a new self-service station along Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road, Abuja.
“We are trying to turn from a filling station to an energy hub,” he said.
The station allows customers to dispense their own fuel, including overnight, via the NNPC Retail mobile app, and combines petrol, EV charging and LPG dispensing at a single site.
Dagazau dismissed concerns that automation would cost jobs, saying an energy hub actually needs more staff than a traditional filling station.
The Abuja facility has a storage capacity of 180,000 litres of petrol and 45,000 litres of diesel, with 16 petrol pumps, two diesel pumps and six EV charging points.
